I had my job interview today. It was a two and a half hour marathon, and that's just the first round. I spent half an hour at the beginning filling in an application and then doing some clerical tests relating to alphabetizing, coding, and matching. The interview itself with Human Resources was about an hour long; she had tons of questions to go through, mostly relating to how I had or would deal with certain types of situations. Then, after a brief tour, I spent about forty minutes doing some typing tests. Rather than being the kind you might take in a keyboarding class, this involved typing materials in Word. One was to type a list of words for five minutes, one was to extract and type up some information from property deeds, and one was to type a list of 12-digit numbers for five minutes although it ended up being for about fifteen minutes because I was to continue typing until the interviewer came back, and she was delayed. Typing a list of twenty 12-digit numbers over and over again for fifteen minutes is not exactly my idea of fun :p
The law firm handles foreclosures. The position is more towards legal assistant than office assistant like I had originally expected (I wasn't hopeful when I learned about the clerical tests). I would be assisting a paralegal in handling the foreclosures assigned to her team.
I'll find out late next week if they want me to come in for a second interview. I told my mom afterwards that when they make candidates go through such an extensive and challenging pre-employment process, they better offer a great salary and benefits!
